ENIGMA
TRAX.

I am a producer based in Rotterdam with a passion for creating electronic music that combines groove, atmosphere and emotion. My music is built around live recording, experimentation and a workflow that prioritises feeling over perfection.

Whether you are here to listen to my music, book a production session or enquire about mastering, welcome.

MUSIC.

The best way to understand what I do is simply to listen.

I recently released a studio mix containing only my own productions. The response to it has been incredible and it has grown into one of the most listened-to pieces of music I have ever shared.

For me, that mix represents what Enigma Trax is all about. Every track was created in my studio using the same workflow and philosophy that I still use today.

About

ABOUT.

I started making music when I was 14 years old after watching an Avicii studio session on YouTube. After that I downloaded FL Studio and spent countless hours trying to understand how electronic music was made.

Those early tracks sounded completely different from the music I make today, but one thing has remained the same throughout the years. I have always been drawn to melodies and emotion. Even now, when I am working on a techno track, I am still looking for that feeling.

Around four years ago I became much more serious about music production. A visit to Freedom Festival in Medellín introduced me to a side of techno that completely changed my perspective on electronic music. Around the same time I started working with hardware and switched from FL Studio to Ableton.

Since then, music has become the thing I dedicate most of my free time to.

I do not have a background in music theory and I cannot read notes. Almost everything I do is based on listening and experimenting. Sometimes I will spend weeks without writing a melody that excites me. Other times I will create several ideas in a single evening. When something gives me goosebumps, I know I am moving in the right direction.

The Method

HOW I MAKE MUSIC.

All of my tracks start as live jams.

I usually begin with a kick drum and bassline and gradually build the track around that foundation. Delays, reverbs and modulation play a big role in my workflow and I often use them in ways that create new sounds rather than simply processing existing ones.

Once everything is running, I record the performance directly into Ableton.

I do not record every machine onto separate channels and build an arrangement afterwards. Instead, I record the stereo output of the entire setup and treat the performance itself as the arrangement.

This means that every track contains small imperfections. A filter might open slightly further than intended or an element may enter a little earlier or later than planned. In most cases I leave these moments in the final recording because I think they contribute to the character of the music.

Music does not need to be perfect to feel alive.

THE STUDIO.

The Studio

I bought my first pieces of hardware during the COVID period. At the time I was curious about synthesizers and wanted a more hands-on way of making music. My first hardware instruments were a Digitakt and a Minilogue.

Since then, hardware has become a central part of my workflow.

What I enjoy most about hardware is not necessarily the sound. It is the way it encourages experimentation. It forces decisions, creates happy accidents and pushes me to interact with the music rather than endlessly editing it.

At the same time, I do not believe that great music requires expensive equipment. Many of the concepts I use every day can be applied just as effectively inside Ableton.

My Approach to Production

Over the years I have learned that simple solutions are often the most effective.

One thing that surprises people when they see my projects is how little processing I use on individual channels. Rather than relying on long plugin chains, I spend a lot of time focusing on the fundamentals.

Volume relationships, envelopes, saturation and group processing have a much bigger impact on a mix than many producers realise.

I also try not to follow rules blindly. For example, one piece of advice that gets repeated constantly is that you should always remove low frequencies from everything. In reality, many modern samples are already processed and balanced. If there is no problem, I see no reason to create one.

I use analysers regularly, but my ears always come first.

Production Sessions

PRODUCTION SESSIONS.

I started giving production sessions by helping friends with their music. Over time more and more people began reaching out through Instagram asking whether I offered lessons, so I decided to make them available more formally.

What I enjoy most about teaching is that it forces me to think about my own process. Many of the things I do in the studio have become instinctive over the years. Explaining those decisions to someone else helps me understand them better as well.

I enjoy working with both beginners and experienced producers. Beginners often make progress very quickly, while advanced producers tend to ask questions that challenge me to think more deeply about my own approach.

What We Can Work On

Every session is different and depends entirely on what you want to achieve.

Some common topics include:

  • Low end and mix balance
  • Saturation and group processing
  • Sound design and textures
  • Delay and modulation techniques
  • Sequencing and melody writing
  • Arrangement and flow
  • Ableton workflow
  • Live jam workflows
  • Mixing and mastering
  • Creative feedback on existing tracks

We can work directly on your project, build something together from scratch, or analyse one of my own projects if there is a specific technique you would like to understand.

How Sessions Work

At the beginning of each session I will ask what you would like to get out of our time together.

Some people arrive with a specific track they are struggling with. Others want help understanding a particular technique or improving a broader aspect of their production.

From there we work through the topic together in a practical way.

I will give direct and honest feedback, but I always want to understand what you are trying to achieve before suggesting changes. My goal is not to make your music sound like mine. My goal is to help you develop a workflow and sound that feels authentic to you.

All sessions take place online through Zoom and the full session recording will be sent to you afterwards.

If you have a quick question after a session, you are always welcome to send me a message.

STUDENT FEEDBACK.

A selection of feedback from producers I have worked with.

I had a 1:1 session with Enigma and it was genuinely one of the most helpful sessions I've had. We covered group processing, mixing techniques, and sound design, and I left with a much better understanding of how to approach my productions. I was able to apply what I learned straight away, and it definitely helped take my tracks to the next level. I'd highly recommend his 1:1 sessions to anyone looking to improve their production.

— Kimba

I found the session useful: he introduced me to new ways of sound design that create interesting textures. He was friendly and professional, and willing to share his knowledge and help.

— Origami

Really enjoyed my session. It was super relaxed, but at the same time he showed some really creative ways of approaching production. Seeing his workflow and how he treats the DAW almost like an instrument was probably the biggest takeaway for me. Even after just one session, I left with a different way of thinking about making music, and I still use some of those ideas today.

— Nico Nova

I took several production classes right at the beginning of my music journey. I was still discovering and evolving my sound as a DJ, and learning from him really transformed the way I understand and approach music, especially since his own sound aligns very much with what I love in techno. His classes are smooth, engaging, and packed with valuable resources; he introduced me to several amazing plugins that completely leveled up my workflow. Most importantly, it gave me the motivation and confidence to keep creating music.

Additional Service

MASTERING.

I also offer mastering for electronic music.

My approach is very similar to the way I approach production. I try to preserve the character of the original mix and only make the adjustments that are necessary to improve translation, balance and loudness.

I am not interested in processing a track simply for the sake of processing it. If something already works, I prefer to leave it alone.

For mastering enquiries, please send:

  • A 24-bit WAV file
  • Around 6 dB of headroom
  • No limiter on the master channel
  • A private downloadable SoundCloud link or file transfer link

Pricing is available on request.

ENIGMA TRAX RECORDS.

Enigma Trax Records is the label through which I will be releasing my own music.

The first release is currently being prepared as a 12-inch vinyl release, following a track that recently gained significant attention online.

DJ.

Alongside producing music, I also perform as a DJ.

My sets reflect the same things I look for in my own productions: strong rhythm, emotional melodies, detailed sound design and tracks that continue to develop over time.

I have performed in Colombia and continue to develop the DJ side of the Enigma Trax project alongside my releases and label.
